Loreto College, Southfield, Darjeeling

Our History

Loreto College, Southfield Darjeeling, was founded in August, 1961 at the request of the Government of West Bengal, who wished to have a Women's College in the region. The late Chief Minister, Dr B.C. Roy personally requested the Loreto Society to open a college for the girls. The college started with only twelve students and an old building and in the course of time two buildings have been added. It is situated in the heart of the town.

In 2003 , we were accredited by NAAC and received the grade B+ .A good grade indeed for a single faculty college of less than 500 students.
