We,
Sisters of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, popularly known as Loreto,
have as our inspiration and inheritance the vision of Mary Ward. She is our
wisdom figure and prophetic foundress (1585 – 1645).
She
believed that “women in time to come will do much.” and she remained strong
in her belief that we must wait God Almighty’s time, not go before it.
Her
spirituality was centered on Jesus and the Gospel. She attempted to initiate an
apostolic way of life and active ministry based on the spirituality and
constitutions of St. Ignatius and proposing that women be governed by
women, engage in apostolic work without enclosure and without reciting the
Divine Office in choir. Her desires have been fulfilled in some ways in the 20th
century.
Aim
and goal of her life and work.
–give glory to God .The ideal virtues she followed and desired her sisters to
acquire were freedom,sincerity and justice.
A
lived Justice involves living in right relationship: with God, with myself, with
others, with planet earth and all creation.
A
life of Sincerity is one of integrity, without masks or pretence.
Joy
overflows from the heart of women who are free, just and sincere.
As we seek to be such women we ask: Where is God
in the happenings and relationships of today?
